Been playing with the proxxon grinder again, I plucked up the courage to use it on a rotating piece  This is Yew 12" wide, the section of sapwood on the right is fairly well rotten.

Very nice JT, if only slightly let down by where you've broken through the dark ring with the proxxon. Is there no way to either put the ring back or make a feature of it?

Cheers wizer 8)
The texturing was done before the black line, the missing bit is where the sapwood was rotten and there isn't a piece of wood there

You got just the right amount of texture on the platter...
could do with being highlighted a bit more..but still outstanding
for your first attempt at using it whilst moving.

Hi JT,

What is it they say of a picture, it can never show the full detail of a piece, it's figure, forum, shades from heart to sap and sound to decay at it's best.
You have worked well with what was a difficult piece, =D>... tested the proxxon and made an excellent platter.
Like it very much.

Regards. David..
