I came to a stop today as the mirror hasn't arrived for the bathroom cabinet yet and I need to check some details with the oak wardrobe customer.....so, I started work on my next commission which is a cabinet to box a boiler in. This was a job from the customer with the small gate. It is just a simple two sided affair which will fit into a corner and cover the boiler and pipework. I had enough spare MRMDF so got to work. By this evening I had it built ready to hinge the door and then apply some finish to it. :D

Oh, I also have to route some slots in the plinth and the top too, Almost forgot that.

You get through a lot of work in a day and it looks very well done. Do you work from detailed drawings or sketches on the back of a *** packet and years of experience  ?

Regards Keith

Well Keith, this one was built from a quick sketch on my pad but normally I draw up my own plans in Sketchup after doing a rough sketch and dimensions in my pad on my first visit. This was such a simple build it was hardly worth doing anything in Sketchup really.

I got the boiler cabinet in a finish and ready for fitting. Not sure when this will be yet as I have to contact the customer for a date.

If I'm allowed to offer some criticism I find the apparent misalignment between the middle rail of the door and the middle rail of the carcass side visually discordant. I'm trying to think of a legitimate reason for this misalignment, but can't. Is it a, er, calculatory anomaly (sic), just the way it's photographed, or is what I see right and there is a reason? Slainte.

Double post......I just thought you were a bit to excited ;-)

On a serious note, what did you finish it with?

Do you use any sort of catch to keep the door closed?

Cheers

The finish is my usual Morrells 2K. This is a matt sheen. I have used the small roller catch for the door on this one.

Err, no Richard it is a mistake. as is the double post....not sure how that happened! must be my age.
Hopefully the customer either doesn't notice or doesn't object to the misalignment, and pays along with offering compliments. Slainte.

Surely that's what "bespoke" is all about ;-)
