SWMBO wants an android box, we already have a Humax Freesat and freeview TV, I believe there legal but are they worth having? Do they connect to a conventional tv aerial? I don't watch a lot of TV, so I'm not bothered either way, although there will probably be some programs I would like to watch.

I have an Apple TV (box) and a Sky Now Box ( a bargain at £10) they all work by wifi from your Broadband router
I assume the android box works in a similar fashion?

What's your monthly download allowance? If your missus wants to watch a lot of streaming video then you could eat into your allowance pretty quickly.

I have a Google TV box, if that's what you're talking about, this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NSZ-GS7-In ... B0087Y7E5K
It's a bit limited, no broadcast TV but great for iPlayer and YouTube.
I haven't used it though since I got a Chromecast, it's so much more convenient to choose what you want to watch on phone or tablet and just hit the cast button to send it to the TV.

A page over from Alex' s link http://www.bestandroidtvbox.net/what-ca ... tv-box-do/

So it allows you to watch stuff you see on your pc like you tube and iplayer etc but on your tv.
It works via your internet connection so you need a) unlimited data (or its going to cost you ) and b) at least a 2mbps connection or even a 4mbps in order for it to transmit any pictures of any quality without it buffering every 30 seconds.
