I have looked at both, the DeWalt 745 and the Axminster @50. Both look great. This is a new hobby for me and my son. We are not craftsmen but we want precision. We do building jobs at the moment where our lack of experience and rough edges are less of a concern. We hope to improve. To my mind, DeWalt is a builders saw but looked great and is precise. The Axminster looks like a woodworker's tool. These are prejudices and baseless but I would appreciate advice please.
We check Ebay etc and can see that you can get some good professional saws with cast iron bases for similar prices but our newness means that faults would be a real PITA for us to deal with. We will use the saw in our "work-shop". Mobility isn't a requirement. Eventually, we think we want it to share a bench on casters maybe with a Router. We have a sliding plunge saw and a compound mitre saw already.
