As the title, the chisels that people have raved about (I think it's them anyway - the Chrome Vanadium ones), are back again on the 16th.

Annoyingly I'm out of the country from 15th, so if anyone does take advantage of this - would they consider buying an extra set and sending to me - i'll cover all costs naturally.

I'm assuming that the various measuring sets they have starting on the same day are not that accurate and / or robust, but then I would have assumed the chisels were not up to muster either until others told me they were a good buy, so thought it worth asking. Any thoughts?

Terry.

Hi Terry, I did buy the 3 square set and although only 1 of them was true, it's a very simple matter to true them up with a file, as they are soft ali. A few minutes work only and all 3 are a spot on as I can make them, short of engineering squares.

For everyday knockarounds it's worth a punt.

Woodmonkey - I'll send you a PM now.

Thanks for the heads up, I have just been and bought a set. They did not have many of them in the store and at least one of the packets had two 18mm chisels instead of an 18mm and a 24mm, so it is worth paying attention as you pick them up.

Went to Aldi could not find chisels asked member of staff they were waiting for several lines that did not come in chisels must be one.B***er

Which Aldi was that? Had been wondering about a trip via the new one in Ellon.
It seems that both the convenient Lidls (Inverurie/ Bridge of Don) often don't have all the special offers. They didn't have the digital angle finders last time these were on offer, so maybe Aldi is selective too.

Just picked up a set from Aldi in Camberley, but had to dig deep in a mountain of files to find them as only three sets left. Not sure if that means they have sold loads or only had a few sets delivered.

Terry.

When I've asked about other promotional items in Aldidl, they never know how many or even if they will get certain items. I suspect head office allocate whatever stock they have based on previous sales at that branch.
Usually they are willing to phone around local stores checking stock and reserving items once they have gone on sale.

Hi dickm I went to ellon branch this morning and there where no chisels I asked staff and they couldn't tell me if they will get them or not they just said you will have to keep checking

Aldi excel at stocking low price stuff. That appears to be at the expense of virtually all other forms of structuring, organisation and even checkout operators. Their business model is cheap, period. Hoping to find a modest amount of organisation within any given store might be expecting a little too much.

I bought the chisels yonks ago and can report they're definitely worth the money and some. So dive into those bins chaps, they're in there somewhere.....or are they? :)

I have just bought a set today. They look identical (visually and same DIN no:) to a branded set that retails at £93 (with a box though.) They need sharpening but are very very good!

Hi Dick it was the Inverurie one

Bought myself a set, as with other tools I've bought the letter E is missing from the word chrome so I'm thinking are these made by a top brand but don't pass quality control so Aldi buy and sell them.

First impressions are good but I've only got my toolstation set to compare too as I don't often use chisel.

Just picked up a set this morning and it looks like an excellent set for the money :)
