Hi

I'm a new member - have only recently stumbled on the site after looking for guidance on building some alcove cabinets, of which I found a lot of useful information about so thank you to everyone who posted.

A customer has asked me to build in some shelving into a cupboard on the landing which currently houses the boiler. Access to the boiler is through a standard panelled timber door but to access the space for the shelving I will need to knock through the stud wall to the right of the door, install the shelving, fit a lining and hang a door (I plan to make the door the same height as the main door - approx 2m, width wise I only have about 400mm to play with)

My question is can I get away with making a door up out of MR MDF (say 22 or 25mm) or will the heat from the boiler and the subsequent rise and fall in heat warp the door?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Tom

I built a temporary MDF shelf on & around the top of the hot water cylinder in my airing cupboard out of 12mm MDF (not even the good stuff!)

15years later (I don't like to rush things! ) it as good as the day I put it in
