I'm considering making an air filtration system just to try and reduce air born dust. I've watched a few videos and most seem to use panel or furnace filters.
I've looked on eBay and Amazon but I'm not feeling nd ing much without silly delivery costs but perhaps I'm not using the right search words.
I was looking for something about 20" square, but as it's early in the planning sizes are very flexible.

Has anyone made their own system? Any idea where to get a decent filter and pre-filter from without it costing the earth?

Mark,
Have a look at the airfilter unit I made here,
diy-dust-extraction-on-axminster-awfs18-scroll-saw-t91962-15.html

Its working very well so far and not as expensive as a "real" one but does the job in my workshop.
I am working on a smaller bench top one using an old HiFi speaker box and a Xpelair plus Hepa car pollen filter just for where I use my Dremel for carving etc.
If you keep an eye out on Ebay or junk shops you can find allsorts of goodies to use and save money.
Cheers
Brian

Nice build and thanks for the link. Those filters may just do the job. Cheers.

Well if you find anyone with low delivery costs please post. I am looking to build my own filter box for the back end of a cyclone dust extraction system. Looked at these guys for filters, but as they are no doubt not geared up to retail customers the delivery is almost as much as the filters.

I'm still looking but so far the best I have found have been on http://www.dustspares.co.uk/home.php.

Delivery strarts at £8 (£9.60 inc vat) depending on weight so lower than some other sites, but the filter prices are very good.
As an example, G4 pleated filter 495 x 595 £5.23 (£6.28 inc vat) for a 22mm deep one and about £5.70 ((£6.84 inc vat) for a 47mm deep one.
Multi pocket filter with same dimensions is £14.89 (£17.87 inc vat)

I cant see any pre filters on there. You can buy pre filter material from ebay. £15 for enough to make 4 filters to match those above. You'd just have to make a holder for them.

Edited to correct prices as I later saw that VAT was not included in there prices.

Airfilterspare seem to charge £2.96 plus VAT for a 596 x 496 x 22mm G4 pleated filter, an F9 bag filter of 592 x 492 x 305 is £10.20 plus VAT, but their delivery is a minimum of £15 plus VAT. So swings and round abouts really.
