Hi all. Most would remember seeing the previous dt I recently finished.

Well this one is of the same design but I have used Makore as the handle wood. I have included some end grain photo's of the handle so you get a better idea of the amount of work that goes into achieving a quality finish. That also goes with the shaping of the bevels on the brass hardback. It takes a lot of time to do this by hand and I sometimes curse the extra effort required, but it does add that extra flair to the final look of the saw.

Excellent job there. :)

I am in the process of making a new handle for mine. No where near the standard of this, so know how time consuming it is.

A beautiful job, and yes, it is remarkable how much difference that beveled back makes to the overall look of the saw. VERY classy.

Thanks Carl. Good to hear your making your own saw handle. If your able to do this to the best of your ability then that's all that really matters. Look forward to viewing your work if you decide to post the results.

Very nice work =D> I do like the shaping of the blade into the handle, Do I dare ask how many hours went into making it :?:
Cheers Peter

Thanks Peter. Way too many hours for each of my saws.

Thank you Stewie. I have posted it as it's a WIP in the projects section.

Thanks Graham. The feedback since applying the bevelling to the backs has been very positive. No turning back now it seems.

I love everything about this design....and now there are two!!!

One question though...why the deviation into African species for the handle?

Jimi

Hi Jimi. I see you know your timbers. There is some wonderful wood to work with here in Australia but we don't hold any monopoly. My next handle wood is American Walnut.
