i actually meant the brake test actually broke the driveshaft - nolegs is correct, the correct way to test a 4wd is by placing a box in the car (i didnt know it was called a decelerometer) and road test the car.
im fairly sure if you check that you are or rather the mot tester is not liable for any mechanical failures during the test.
as i said it isnt a big job on a landy so it was just easier to fix it ourselves.

forgot to say when the driveshaft broke during the test - the vehicle still passed the mot as the vehicle was still driveable in 2wd .
