3 rustic bowls

Here is 3 small rustic bowls made from Rhododendron branchwood using only a spindle gouge. Rhodo is a superb turning wood and the shavings come off in ribbons making it excellent for demonstrating. The wood is fairly bland but is ideal for colouring or doing pyrography on.

Those look like good examples of the art of turning, simple form but no less attractive for that.

Glad to see some use being made out of what is on the surface a very attractive shrub but for some an invasive menace causing much grief.

I have a very good friend a semi retired gamekeeper thats into stickmaking(he sells them through Holland and Holland in London) and he swears by rhododendron for carving
