    LATHE PEN MAKING

Was a simple get around and served me well enough until I upgraded my lathe. I have a look in my shed tomorrow for it and get a picture. Apologies for the spellings main problem with being severely dyslexic. Hopefully hasn't affected the point of my post. If it has can a mod remove it.

    LATHE PEN MAKING

I had the same problem with a my first lathe, it was a cheapo lathe from Machine Mart. I bought a kit from planet plus with out the mortice taper part and then turned a piece of wood that protected my hand from the drive taper and then drilled a hole it the centre to accept the shaft of the kit...

    INSULATION

The best product to install would be British Gypsum's Gyproc Thermaline PLUS in either 27mm or 35mm board. It is a insulated plasterboard with an integral vapour control. It is all that we specify now for refurb jobs to old houses that need insulating. Install just like plaster board.

    Joint genie

I have a small one, that was on sale a few years ago so you could try it out before buying the large set, but have never needed to scale up! One of the most usefull tools in the shed. Buy one and you won't be disappointed in my book!

    One for the building experts

I too would look at installing an insulated plasterboard as mentioned above, a product like this http://www.british-gypsum.com/products/plasterboard___accessories/gyproc_thermal/gyproc_thermaline_plus.aspx would be best as the nature of the product provides a vapour control layrer as well as...

    Woodstar PT 85-106

I have the wood star PT85 paid around £200 for it four years ago. Cracking little machine has handled everything I have thrown at it so far, eats oak and sapele leaving a very good finish. Same blades in it as when I bought it. It is loud but with a good pair of ear defenders its fine. Only...

    Chainsaw Advice

I've got the Bosch one. Does well for light work and prepping logs into turn-able blanks. For anything larger than 1 foot diameter, I get the petrol one out. I reckon that the Bosch would cope but with plenty of patience...

    How to get them out?

I've struggled to find wood turning courses in Suffolk when i was looking last year. I ended up have a day with Bill Care, just outside Bury St Edmunds. It was £80 for a days tuition. We went over the basics of what each tool did, he then taught me how to sharpen each of the tools. Then after a...
