    Horse Chestnut Burr Form

G'day johnny and dick, I have done a boat load of slabs with the Alaskan mill here in BC, both hardwoods and pines and firs, and with the chain filed for ripping it makes a big difference plus it is easier on the saw. I use a Shihl 090 and run it flat out so I over mix the oil (about 40:1)...

Regrinding a round shafted skew chisel

Find a hex nut that fits snugly over the diameter of rod you want to use, then drill and tap one face of the nut for a set screw to hold the nut in place on the shaft. Use every other face on the nut for a reference on the grinders tool rest and you end up with a 3 face point. Trevor

    Which Chainsaw?

Dave, Out here the preference is for Stihl, pretty much all the loggers and forestry guys swear by them. Of course we are running big saws and big bars as we need them for the size of timber we harvest. There is a big difference in power ratings on the various sizes of saw, you are better off...

    Uh oh. wizer's got a chainsaw..... !

Wizer, Have found Oregon to be excellent bars and chains, that's all most of us use here, I don't use cheap chain. I have found that leccy saws need to be sharpened more than big gas saws as they just don't have the umph when the chain starts to get dull and the guts are plastic not metal and...
