    Ideal height for saw?

Hi, I've just finished trying some of the names that i've seen done on here and my back is flamin' sore. What sort of height do people have their saws at. Is it chest height? Of course I didn't notice till I stopped but i'm sitting here very carefully typing at the moment

    Cheap scrollsaw books

I ordered a few scroll saw books from Hay on Wye booksellers. They are as below; The 4 books came to the grand total of £14.41 including delivery. That's about what i'd spend on the same number of woodworking magazines. Very fast delivery and excellent value, IMO. Just thought i'd leave a...

Anyone know of a Flying Dutchman supplier in East Anglia?

I know I can order online but i'd like to take a look at these in person and have a chat with someone in the know. Does anyone know if I can go to a shop and see scrollsaw stuff in the flesh? Also i'm just getting into scrollsawing (just got a used saw of here) and was wondering what a good...

    Turned cherry wood

Hi everyone, I have a few bits that i've turned from cherry. There are a few problems though. I keep getting some tear out on the wood. Is this a case of the tools not being sharp enough or me running the lathe at the wrong speed? The two lighter ones have had no finish applied. The spalted...

How do I clean sanding sealer off brushes?

Thought it would be a case of soaking the brush in White spirits but that just made the brush go solid. Can anyone tell me what I should be using? Cheers, Rob.

    What am I doing wrong?

My blanks keep splitting when I turn them. Am I cutting too quickly or deeply or could it be something else? I'm getting a bit fed up with it to be honest. Any ideas? Cheers, Rob.

    Poolewood lathe?

I've just upgraded my lathe to a cast bed one with variable speed. I've been using a very basic old draper lathe and it's nice to have something with a little quality. Thing is I can't find any details of the lathe on the net. It's a Poolewood lathe thats labelled as woodwise model number...
