    Mitre joints with a router

Thanks marcros. Yes Trend's 10/97x1/4TC will cut 8 - 12mm. I don't usually look at Trend, being a fan of Wealden. BUT NOT AT OVER £100 Brian

    Mitre joints with a router

In a recent thread someone said that they cut mitres for a box on a router table. If they see this post would they please explain how they do it. I have tried it with a chamfer bit but not with any success. Thanks Brian

    Swipe card system.

Find a proper locksmith who fits access control systems. They will (should) give you proper advice and will sell the parts. Failing that come to Reigate and speak to my son at Southern Lock & Safe. If you choose rebated doors ensure that you fit a 'door selector'. Brian

    Why bother

Has anyone read Peter Lloyd's book "Making Heirloom Boxes"? While visiting the Lakes earlier this year I visited Blackwell, one of my favourite houses. Not much in the way of furniture but it is a beautiful Arts & Crafts house. In the gift shop there is a Peter Lloyd box at £400. Eat your...

    Postage costs

I have just heard if a delivery organisation where a jiffy bag costs just £3.99 and a parcel up to 22lbs costs £6.99. See http://www.collectplus.co.uk/ for details. This service uses Paypoint shops which act as delivery and collection point (i.e. no home delivery). Not much good for a table...

TS 200 Motor problem Capacitor replacement

Many thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately the only way to remove the capacitor cover was to invert the machine with all the work that entailed. The replacement capacitor was too large to fit under the cover so other arrangements had to be made. It's singing nicely now. Brian

Disc sanding machine : changing and re-using discs.

Axminster advised me to use white spirit to remove the adhesive from the disc. if your work allows it try the method (I think it's on the Record Power web site) of attaching two different grades of abrasive to the disc, this will probably work best with adhesive backed discs. Not tried it...

    High or low fence?

Yes you're right about a high fence fouling the handle. I bought a table from Axminster and often need to remove one or even two handles, Have a look at the Axi table - route a square out of the top piece of ply and make removable/replaceable inserts. With the insert removed you will be able...

TS 200 Motor problem Capacitor replacement

I'm a bit of a lazy s_d really. I thought that removing the side panel would avoid the need to turn it upside down. The Axi guy seemed to think this would do. Would rather not take the motor out, in any case I'm not sure how to do this. For the time being , at least, I will try to get some help.

TS 200 Motor problem Capacitor replacement

I hope someone can help me with this! When I switch the saw on I am met with a loud buzz which only stops when I switch off. Axminster have diagnosed this as a capacitor failure. I have bought a new one BUT I can't remove the cover off the unit on the motor. I have removed the left hand...

    Work Sharp from Rutlands...?

I have one! It produces a good edge but only at 25degrees and will not adjust to a honing bevel so you will also need your stone or whatever. That said it suits me fine as I don't need to sharpen my chisels that often.

    Routing a roundover

I have the same problem sometimes. I do most of my routing on a table rather than freehand and find that careful positioning is needed re the position of the fence and the height of the bit. May be you need a bit with a bigger radius. Have a look at Wealden's web site...
