    Current equivalent of Stanley 5001s

Following recent threads and varied opinions on the handles and steel etc, I am wondering what those in the know would consider to be current equivalents? The set of 6 which I bought about 30 years ago for about £20 have done and do everything I need on the chisel front. 1/4" to 1" is as big a...

    Oneida Dust Deputy

Also I had the same experience with the same barrel.

    Oneida Dust Deputy

Very imressive build and elegantly done. Wish I could work metal like that. Have you tried a bigger cyclone?

    Oneida Dust Deputy

For the container I used a stainless steel 'crock pot' that was on offer at local hardware. Made a lid from two thicknesses of mdf, creating a groove for the rim of the pot. Put draught strip in the base of the groove. Vacuum pulls it down for a good seal. Works a treat.

    Oneida Dust Deputy

I've got a dust deputy in line to my vac and it works really well. Saves on expensive paper bags. I think they've made a few versions which can lead to confusion. Mine is steel with a 2" pipe. They at least used to make a steel one with a smaller pipe. Don't know what size pipe the plastic...

    Simple improvement to Pillar Drill

Not done anything with bearings. Adjusting the motor position involved loosening four bolts, which allowed rotational and vertical adjustment. I adjusted rotation by eye, and vertical by placing a straight edge across the tops of the three sets of pulleys.

    Super Dust Deputy Cyclone

Interesting. It looks well made apart from the skimping on the welding. Is it all in 'true'? Does the paint job look as good as it does in the pic?

    Simple improvement to Pillar Drill

Bought a Jet 17 floor standing drill a couple of years ago and it's performed well and accurately, if noisily. Read somewhere about those V link belts reducing vibration, so I got some when in Canada. That helped a bit. So did gaffer taping the lid down. But it was still noisy. Today I had...

    Machine cables...

I did think the short cable was a bit odd when I got my A3 31, but just put a male MK 16A plug on it, and connect a trailing cable to the wall outlet. I've found it no hassle in practice. I sourced some armoured cable from my local electrical supplier - a stranded wire mesh around the...

Electrical connection of Scheppach TKU 4000

It's the weekend so I can't ring NMA. The TKU (240 volt) switch has a built in female socket and a male plug is supplied, for me to put a cable into. The plug is some sort of euro design, but only Earth is indicated. No indication for which of the other two connectors are L & N. The plug can go...

Axminster Bosch palm router package deal

Re collet size, if I remember correctly the manual says an 8mm is available. That's reminded me to check and order one if possible.

Axminster Bosch palm router package deal

It's a great router for lots of jobs where my DW625 is just too big for comfort, accuracy and safety. On the last point though, since you can control it single handed, remember to stay conscious of the vulnerability of your other hand. No bad experiences, but I'm just aware that it is so handy...

    table saw fence

I too have an online FWW subscription and although I found reference in the FWW catalogue, I couldn't find the article. I emailed FWW and they sent me a copy of the article along with this reply: "Attached is a copy for your reference. I couldn't find it online either. Sometimes we were unable...

    glue for garden bench

Just made a garden bench in oak. Some tenons, halving joints and some places wood just mating and held with stainless screws. This is to be used in one of the wetter parts of the UK and I thought I'd give West 105 system resin a go, as used in boats. Anyway it was a time consuming and messy...
