    Festool guide rails

Evening, I've used my rails fairly regularly for 2 years and have never thought about any lubrication. Before putting them away, I clean the tracks on the rails and underside of saw and always been fine. BTW, what makes you think you need lubrication? Colin

    Mahogany

LeeElms, Cutting it won't be a problem, I have access to a bandsaw set up for re-cutting. It has a capacity of 30inches I think it is - should be enough! However, I think a good coat of looking at, will be the first approach. Colin

    Mahogany

Evening, Thanks! I guess something like a jewelry box might well be a good suggestion. It's a 'smart' piece of wood, never had any screws or anything in it and well polished by, I suppose, thousands of hands. I think it will have to stay in storage for a while, until I can finalize what to do...

    Mahogany

Good evening, I have been offered -as a gift - a single piece of mahogany which originally came from Belize, holding a house up and is about 80 years old. It is 15" x 15" in section and is 10ft long. Does anyone have any indication of how much it could be worth, as I would like to give the old...

    Grommets!

Evening, I'm looking for a edge finishing strip to fit round oval penetrations in a wooden cable ducting, about 4mm thick. I've found circular grommets, but what I used to use, I can't find anymore somehow. It was a long strip, somewhat akin to stripping a cable neatly and using the sheath as an...

    UN-installing a fitted worktop / desktop

Richard, You can get downcut jigsaw blades, also ones that are extended forwards to flush cut to the front face of the jigsaw. I was working in a house recently which was having new granite worktops fitted to replace the existing ones and the fitters had these blades and just wizzed straight...

    Toshiba A100-049 Laptop

Evening, Don't get too carried away with the 'slowness' of PC's booting! I'm typing this on an Evesham notebook, it's nearly a year old and in that period the only time it has EVER had to start from 'cold' is when Windows Update has required a reboot. It is always left set up for hibernation...

    bbc ?

Devonwoody, Certainly most if not all, TV Companies - ABC, NBC, CBC etc offer video downloads. However, they usually use a similar system and deny IP connections to Countries that the particular show has been sold to. Usually, most of them let the News broadcasts through though. Of course, all...

    bbc ?

Evening, Re the BBC & 'the rest of the World', I don't think so; I was on the trial and the BBC server checks your IP address to check that it comes from the UK 'pool' before it allows access. I tried it a few times from Japan and the only way I could fool it, was to use a proxy service that...

Convering tools to Festool Plug-It System

Evening, When I lived in Japan, some of the contractors I worked with had "unknown brand" Japanese made electric tools. They all had a plug/socket system, but it was magnetic and if you tripped over it etc., it just pulled the lead out - not the tool onto the floor! It was nearly a flush system...

Couple of questions for the experts

Evening, I have fitted a bamboo floor for a kitchen, about 6 months ago. It was sealed with a flooring grade sealant and it looks very good. The owner is very pleased and says it lightens up the kitchen no end. (It has dark walls and cabinets. HTH, Colin

    broadband question

Evening, Virgin have a 10mb mailbox limit, but that includes all the overheads. The Virgin cable forum reckon about 8.2mb is the max usable size. However, you have a 'free' web site on Virgin, as do most other broadband suppliers, so why not post your pictures to your own web site and then just...

    Workshop Security

Evening, When I finished my workshop, I decided against double glazing for the windows. Stuck to single glazing and then fitted high grade polycarbonate as a secondary fitting. We tried a left-over piece mounted in a wooden frame and we couldn't break it with a brick, It damaged the frame...
