I need to somehow make a hing which is about 8mm wide at most. I was thinking of getting some metal tubing and solder 2 bits to one side and one bit to the other with a wire going through them all(do you get what I mean?) Any suggestions? Mod Edit, Moved from Completed Projects to Off-Topic. Adam

I made some frames out of 3mm thick balsa but its a bit too thick, so I bought some 1mm wood and they are too flimsy. Is there any way i can toughen them up without making them thicker? Would varnishing it make any difference?

Ive been able to get some cheap brass butterfly hinges form ebay but they are only in brass. Im after silver/chrome coloured versions of the same thing, they cant be bigger than 3.8cm wide when open. Any ideas where I can try? Thanks

Me again. Im thinking of hingeing my 2 bits of wood, like a book, using butterfly hinges. Should I drill holes for the screws? Does there have to be a gap between the 2 bits of wood, if so how wide? Thanks

I left some sycamore in a tub of coffee and water overnight. I havnt examined the end result but Il let you know. Has anybody else done this? Does anybody know if it will last, should it be varnished?
