Corroded chrome stair spindles. Is this normal.....?

They may have a spam trap for yahoo, hotmail, gmail and other similar types of sender addresses. I found that once when contacting someone without using their contact page, my aol address worked but my yahoo didn't.

    Landrover owners - advice

Land Rover's are great. The pick up is really good for carrying heavy mucky things. The 110 Defender CSW is great for carrying people off road. The 127/130 crew cab is great for carrying people and heavy mucky stuff. If you want to carry wood and furniture forget the Land Rover. Until Land...

    I have a website!

Good points there. I guess I hadn't revisited what I had written from the point of view of what I was selling since the original draft. Unfortunately the 'everything I have ever done and can do' content is a roll over from my temping days when I had to myself sell on everything I could do for...

    Spirit level ?

I'll vouch for Stabilo Levels too though for very short ones as long as the base is flat and the bubble level then it will do. I use levels for a lot of engineering work too as the accuracy of a good one is excellent. The method I use to check is to lay the level on a surface and rever to...

    I have a website!

The Platform Gallery? Yes, I am. I have the table, chair and cabinet there in cherry wood. The other work is all by my first and second year students. Good to know that someone has been to see it.

    Starting out

Hi Jos, If it is definately joinery you want to do and not fine furniture then I am very surprised that you can't find a college course. I teach furniture, and occasionally carpentry and joinery as Burnley College and at this time of the year I get regular calls from teaching agencies offering...

    I have a website!

Thanks for the input. I know protecting images is a real pain and that most methods can be got around but I feel that something is better then nothing at all. I will have a chat with Euan about it to see if he can improve or find other methods but so far all the methods that Bigshot has...

    I have a website!

Thank you. The watermarks are a pain but it was the best quick fix we could come up with. We are looking at other ways of protecting images. The slideshows will advance with a click on the left and right sides of the image to do previous and next but I will will get Euan to have a look in...

    I have a website!

Thank you. Did you mean the website or my work? The lamp has a flex, it is the wiggly white thing between it's legs. In the original design I was going to route a grove in one of the legs to hide a thin flex in it but the weight of the rest of the flex made the lamp difficult to keep still on...

    I have a website!

Finally my website is up and running. A friend did it for me and has decided to make it live today. There may still be a few minor errors to it and we are frantically proof reading and spotting changes and improvements but at least it is live. http://www.eversleyhouse.org.uk Now I can get my...

Function over form - a cautionary tale

Sometimes the simplest things are the best if they do what is required. And often what is required to make someone smile and be happy and your shelf has done exactly that so it is a great bit of work. :D

    a shower

I remember sitting at a traffic light cross roads in Manchester watching the rain. I noticed that my side of the cross roads was hammering down with rain and dark clouds and the cars had lights on and pedestrians were using brollies while on the other side of the cross roads it was sunny and...

    which external mobile hard drive?

I've never had a failure of any external drive or stick and will quite happily carry small files about on a cheapo supermarket stick. I have had a number of desktop and laptop drives fail on me though.

    Ornithologists answer??

Many of the birds here sing at around 2am as it is quieter and they can be heard above the traffic noise.

Model car. Mercerdes Silver Arrow .. getting there!

I tend to use a floor pan as I work in the same way as a real vehicle chassis. All the mechanical parts would be fixed to this to ensure locational accuracy and then it is clothed in a body. Probably no great advantage, just the way I would tend to work.
