Move Tormek T7 from US to UK?

Can't ask the original poster's question, but the comment about variable speed and US -> UK is interesting. Would that likely rule out brining back a US router to the UK/EU?

    Finger meets tablesaw. OUCH?

Paul, I'd be interested, but I'll likely have purchased the US model by then. However, don't let that stop you :-) I'm sure people would be interested. How different do you think the changes might be in order to satisfy EU laws? Did they show their cards on the necessary changes? If you do...

    Finger meets tablesaw. OUCH?

I'm a UK expat living in the USA and I'm currently pondering buying a sawstop. As Paul said, they are dead cagey about the CE certification in the EU. I am interested to find out if a USA sawstop will work in Europe because I might have to relocate back in the future and I don't want to pay...

Workshop Essentials 1 2 and 3 (Tennoning Jig)

I think, after > 3000 posts, it would be hard to argue (successfully) that Steve might lessen his input just because he also happens to sell some DVDs about wood working :-) I for one am happy to support his endeavours in the hope that we might see some more excellent, well executed knowledge...

Workshop Essentials 1 2 and 3 (Tennoning Jig)

Hi, Has anybody else purchased these recently? I just wanted to drop a quick note and say that I recently received these in the post, all the way from UK to Finland. I am delighted with the purchase and really learnt some valuable tips and tricks, not to mention gained some excellent jig...

Looking to buy a bench-top pillar drill

Lyndhurst do a 550w induction bench drill, which looks rather good. You'll have to ask on price, but one went on ebay quite recently for ~£142 + delivery.

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Hi Tony, Thanks for your input. I didn't realised the bigger Axy had a standard mitre gauge slot... it looks comparable with the Deft T30. I suppose I should really contact Axminster and get a corresponding shipping quote so that I have something to compare to the Lyndhurst shipping (Saw's are...

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Hi Krysstel. Unfortunately, Roy @ Woodford is the only importer in Europe (at least this was the case the last time I contacted him about a year ago). It's pretty odd that this XCalibur saw is the only 'small' induction saw I've been able to find (with a standard mitre slot). There ought to be...

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Blimey Gareth, thank you so much! I didn't mean you to go to so much trouble, dragging it out of your garage etc! :-) Much appreciated. I definitely see what you mean about the overhang at the back... I must go and check my garage in the morning to see if it fits or not. That Incra Mitre...

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Gareth and Sawdust Producer, could I ask a couple more favours? Any chance of some pics of the back of the saw? I'm interested in the mitre gauge slot length (or in other words, the table depth) and also how much the motor hangs out the back. If you happen to go by your workshops any time in...

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Cheers guys. I didn't realise this was known as the 804 model. I though the 80x were the big boys toys :-) Thanks for your pics also Mr. Sawdust Producer. They really help to get a feel for the size (the photos on the woodford site are rubbish!). Will defo ask for a discount. This saw is about...

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Hello Blister. Yes... unfortunately it's brush-based and has a non-standard mitre slot. I'm also loathed to buy this Bosch when I noticed that Bosch USA produce a more advanced version which (probably for the usual reasons) is not available in Europe.

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Gareth, Brilliant! Thank you for taking the time to post this and the photos. It sounds like it really ticks all the boxes then. Induction I presume based upon the noise level? I'm really torn between this and the Deft (ruled out Record Power I think). Hmm... difficult decisions ahead!

    Makita Drill Driver Axminster Deal

I bought a cheap bosch (pro) SDS drill from Screwfix for masonry. It's like a knife through butter compared with my old corded precussion drill. I have the makita lion 18v system (saw, driver, drill) and it's superb. The driver is a real power house.

Which would you buy - XCalibur or Record Power?

Thanks BJM. I've read your feedback and it's very helpful, thanks. Seems that the owners vs reviewers differ in opinion quite widely. I'm not liking the way the left hand side mitre slots runs in the sliding table rather than in the cast iron.... and of course, as mentioned the mitre slot is non...
