    Mitre saw suggestions

I've had the saw for quite a while, whilst its been okay, its just a little too cumbersome for finer work. Where the saw lets itself down is cutting mitres at the back of the blade (i.e. skirting boards) no matter how many times i set and tune the saw it always reverts to cutting anything other...

    Mitre saw suggestions

Evening, I'm in the process of selling my dewalt mitre saw, she's a big old girl with a 305mm blade. Whilst it's been great for site work, its now a little too big for my needs and I'm looking for a more accurate saw which is smaller and lighter. I'm sorely tempted by the festool ks120, but it's...

    Thin kitchen worktops

Evening, I'm in the middle of planning my kitchen and looking for a little advice on the worktops. I've seen some kitchens that utilise thin laminates - say 12 -18mm, but I'm struggling to find a supplier. As another option I thought of was using Birch ply with a layer of formica on the...

    Ready made kitchen carcasses

Thats look like the kind of thing I'm looking for. Seems reasonably priced too. As Morfa mentioned it appears difficult to buy without doors and in grey. Thanks.

    Ready made kitchen carcasses

Could anybody recommend a supplier of ready made kitchen carcasses? I'm looking to fit out my new kitchen and would like to make the door and drawer fronts. I'd like to use grey carcasses as I'm not too keen on the white or wood patterned stuff. Thanks in advance, Euan

Sedgwick planer - knife adjustment grub screw

Cheers MM, I had a shot with an M8 Bolt and it seems to fit smoothly. Many thanks.

Sedgwick planer - knife adjustment grub screw

Hi Myfordman, The grub screws have a 4mm allen key head. The machine itself is one of the two tone green versions with the 1500mm beds. The grub screws are pretty badly shot and the threads on the cutter block could do with recutting. Hopefully the grub screws are the correct size as they seem...

Sedgwick planer - knife adjustment grub screw

Does anyone know what size the thread is for the knife adjustment screws on the cutter block? It's the small grub screws situated under the knife. The machine itself is an MB with the 2 knife block. Thanks.

    Startrite 18 S 1

Ah! That would make more sense. I'll have to give it a go tomorrow. Thanks again.

    Startrite 18 S 1

That's a great video Alex - Thanks. I was also fortunate enough to get the mitre gauge with the machine, but as yet I'm at a loss on how to use use it! I'll have a hunt around on google and hopefully find a user manual. Cheers, Euan

    Startrite 18 S 1

Thanks Deema, Its good to hear some good experience of the saw. I guess I need to get some new blades and have a good tinker with it. I've not got a huge amount of experience with setting up bandsaw, but looks like I'll have to learn. Cheers, Euan

    Startrite 18 S 1

Afternoon, I was recently given a Startrite 18 S 1 bandsaw. I've not had too much time to make good use of it, but the time I have had has made me question whether its the right machine for me. I'd really like a machine which is obviously accurate and powerful as I'd like to rip down some large...

    Planer thicknesser setup help

Afternoon, I've recently bought a Sedgwick MR planer. It's one of the older ones in the two tone green and 1500mm beds. I seem to be having problems squaring timber. I've set my straightedge along the beds and made some small adjustments to get the in feed and out feed in the same plane. I've...

    Stainless steel nails.

Aye, That's what I'd found. What stumps me is why 5kg of 40mm nails is so much cheaper than 5kg of 75mm nails - surely 5kg is 5kg!

    Stainless steel nails.

I'm in the middle of doing a house extension at home. I've been putting off doing the Larch cladding for too long and really need to get on with it. I've gone through an awful lot of nails, around 14,000 (good old Paslode) in all so far! I now need to get some more 75mm stainless steel ring...
