    Axminster m900 faceplate issue

. I had the same problem when I started. Something I did, was to turn an extension block for the faceplate, which I then used as a faceplate in its own right. You'd have to be careful with it because it it obviously less robust than a real faceplate but it is simple enough to make and try...

    So What

I am trying to tidy up the garage workshop so that I can keep it tidy! If I can keep it that way, then the limited time I get to play may be a little more productive.

    Problem with lathe - switch?

Dino, I seem to recall having a similar issue on a switch where some dust or chippings had got in the switch somehow, which when cleaned sorted it out. I can't quite remember though and I'm second guessing myself given that are maybe sealed to prevent ingress???? I'm pretty sure that CPC do...

    Sorby ProEdge belt alignment problems

Just a quick update for those interested. The ProEdge is being returned for a refund and I will buy a replacement locally. Poolewood were helpful but with only a few days left before going back to work, it should enable me to get up and running more speedily without waiting for couriers back...

    Sorby ProEdge belt alignment problems

Mike, Many thanks for the fast reply. I was hoping it wasn't entirely my fault though I am still ashamed at not trusting my instincts with the alignment originally (despite it not touching the bottom left edge) and then subsequently not spotting or hearing the rubbing as I tried it out later...

    Sorby ProEdge belt alignment problems

Happy New Year to all. I was fortunate enough to receive a Sorby ProEdge from my wife for Christmas yesterday. I am having some problems with the belt alignment despite following the instructions and I wondered if anyone is able to provide any pointers or suggestions about what I am doing...

    Recommendation for r/c helicopter

My recommendation is the blade mcx. My wife and I both have them, and after seeing ours my parents now own one, and a couple of brothers in law do too. Great fun at family gatherings, though it frightens the dog. One of the brothers bought this model instead which is a clone or very similar...

    Jammed faceplate

If you have a sacrificial piece of wood on the face plate, perhaps you could screw a long wooden handle to it and then use this as a lever to loosen it. If you don't have anything on the faceplate, perhaps you could pop a couple of screw or bolts through to lever off? I had to do this once after...

    Metal Supermarket in the UK

I used metal supermarket in Southampton when making a couple of woodturning tools and they were really happy and prepared to some deals on offcuts because I didn't need much. Other metal stockholders were much less helpful probably becasue of the smaller quantities.

    Dust Masks

I have an airshield and I wish I had purchased it first before any other tools or an extractor. As much as the extractor removed dust at source I still ended up with horrible dusty bogies which must only account for a tiny proportion of what I was breathing in. Whilst my glasses fit under a face...

    Is this legal?

Phill, I had the same, with the only exception that my house didn't exist! My house was being built and I guess that the address had been registered enabling the contractors working on behalf of TV licencing to send out bulk letter to addresses that weren't shown as having TV licences. When...

    Turned Travel Mugs

Evening, I tried it with a plastic insert once. The limiting factor was the way the lid fitted, so there wasn't a tidy rim as you see on Capn eddy's vid. I've wanted to make one with the same style of insert as he uses but haven't got around to it yet. Good luck finding a cheap metal insert. I...
