It amazes me how people can read this rubbish and take it on face value then perpetuate it by repeating it. I see posts like this day after day, 30 seconds on Google will show whether it's real or not.

There seems to be two different opinions, both derived from the same source, the internet! It may not be reality yet, but be sure of one thing it will be soon!

Some parts of the internet are more authoritative than others. It not just an undifferentiated blob.

For example, I would put more credance in information from here:

than here:

Everyone always focuses on the negative with quads/drones. the mosquito image is pretty ridiculous :)

Why?

Get used to the idea though they are becoming more common in commercial aerial photography due to obvious cost advantages over helicopters and are finding uses in structural surveys etc.
Just because some of them carry cameras it doesn't mean it's pointed at you!

My recommendation is the blade mcx. My wife and I both have them, and after seeing ours my parents now own one, and a couple of brothers in law do too. Great fun at family gatherings, though it frightens the dog.

One of the brothers bought this model instead which is a clone or very similar model and cheaper at £40, though not sure if the spares as are as easily available as it might be linked to that one shop.

They cost more than a toy helicopter but can be flown properly indoors. You should be able to practice over the top of a table quite easily if you are limited to space, and they normally bounce pretty well. Having a couple of blade spares is usually enough.

Anyway, we love them, and a great distraction. It won't be long before our toddler starts flying it, no doubt
 
Just bought the Aldi special (so thanks Roger/Grayorm)....cracking value. Currently wearing safety glasses ...tricky little pipper to fly!

EDIT: Oh Lord....this is addictive :shock:

I can relate to that. I did try taking it outside and it is very sensitive to other IR sources and wind. It's bad enough in the workshop where I now have a permanent hop-up available to rescue it from where it's crashed on top of the wood pile.

Been a very worthwhile exercise as it seems to have got the initial 'hit' out of my system. However I am sure that I will be just popping in to that shop in Ledbury at some point in time....just for research, you understand.
