I havent got a " Her indoors " :p had one for 3o years

now I am FREEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee  :p :p

very nice - i like the idea of the toothpick and the use of ebonising fluid. I've got the spray but suspect the fluid would be better - you've certainly got a better shine on the hat that I did with the spray on a pen recently.

What are the buttons? Are the just painted or dyed inserts?

The buttons are ebony , from a pen blank , drilled holes and glued them in

Very nice, finish on the hat is excellent, and as Pete said, like the way the grain worked out.
The toothpick besom is a nice detail as well :D

Some very good idea's there Blister. Going to pinch a few if you don't mind :)

The hat looks so vibrant, and the buttons really add to the effect.

The grain in particular works really well.

Good stuff.

Nicely done!

I have a good dozen, maybe more sitting on the workbench, getting ready to send out to friends and family.

These have been really great fun!

I like the range of styles Stu - I'll have to do some in polished wood with the highlights in colour. Both yours and Blister's give excellent examples for inspiration.

Bet you end up turning more when you give them out :)

Dave

Oh yeah, you bet, I know I'll be turning more of these.

My wife gave a few away already, and they prompted more requests.

Heck I'm sending one to a buddy's wife in Texas! :D

They sure are fun, the boxes are great, good practice on spindle work, and good practice on making boxes :ho2

Cheers!
