I'm on a roll tonight...all that blank creating was quite boring so every few hours I couldn't resist it...this was a piece of stray yew that just begged to be made into a bowl. Is it any wonder turners love Yew? Just look at the figure and colour. I've yet to remove the spigot :)

Just look at the spider webbing on it. Absolutely beautiful.

Yeah sorry Graham...I've been up to my armpits in blanks and I've gone a little mad I think. (Still haven't done the priest yet mind)

Very funny Mick.....I can swear on the bible that its yew :)

Yew will not get the wood pile sorted at this rate you keep stopping to have so much fun.

Nearly forgot to say good job on the bowl

Love that. Now I am even more impatient to get at the Yew logs I picked up last month.

Lovely looking piece. I think Yew is my favourite timber you can never guess what the end result will be as the pattern changes with every cut.

At a fair once where a stallholder showed a large piece of yew, but claimed that he had not been 'un-sustainable' by cutting down the source tree. He said that during the big gales some years ago, a beech tree had been blown over, and it in turn had uprooted the yew as it fell.

So I said, "Goes to prove that old adage!"

He said, "Which one?"

I said, "Life's a beech, and then yew die!"

He groaned!
