Playing about on ebay today, I stuck in a bid, never thought i'd win it - I couldn't surely! It was a smaller bid than any machine they have sold previsouly and quite a discount on their shop price. Surely someone would outbid me with a minute to go as that ALWAYS happens on items I really want.

Ooh, it didn't!!

Oh, erm, SWMBO doesn't know about this - it's a bit to big to hide, maybe if I build a cabinet around it she won't notice (apart from the lights dimming when turning it on).

Oh, erm, how do I move it? It weighs 23 stone.

I sold my car recently, and was going to spend the money on a holiday, but this looked such a bargain, hope SWMBO see's my logic:

Chris - I was thinking of going to collect it as my company currently pays for the diesel on the van i'm driving, not sure if it would be too heavy for an escort van though, i'll have to find a 23 stone fat friend to sit in the back to test it before driving down there. Aye, I got it for dead on £400 - £98 pound saving from their site, and a bit cheaper than most of them have gone before so I was really surprised to see that I won it.

Last summer I came home with a bit more timber than SWMBO was expecting :shock:. Actually about 10 cu ft more than she was expecting. I'm still suffering.

I fully intend to do a review of this from intial setup to use, should be fun! Just got to think of a way to get it into the workshop as I still have a foot and half trench in front, maybe a crafty solution made from pulleys and squirrels will do the trick.

Just don't forget single bed in first then the machine :lol: weather's picking up so it shouldn't be too cold on a night.

I have the FOX machine which looks the same . I had to make small adjustments to the relationship of the tables to the cutter barrel to keep the edge of the blade/s parallel to the tables and the tables flat and straight its adjusting nuts and bolts just takes time and a straight edge.The odd pointer and scale also needed adjustment. The thicknesser on the drive end of the cutter barrel had difficulty pulling the wood through but waxing the bead helped a lot i did make some adjustments to tension but these may not be required and how you work can help if there is a problem (place the wood away from the drive side) and the bed cast iron polishes with use .
Once up and running with the three blade cutter it gives a good finish and the long beds straighted up the wood well.

And.... she's cool with it. I've arranged two months worth of overtime at work, so i'll easily cover the cost and we'll be jetting of on our summer hols this year with no problems, disaster averted. I get the beast next monday! Can't wait.

Does anyone have some good links to information on these type of machines with regards setting them up, good safety practice, techniques etc..?
