I have a Wilson spindle moulder with a 1 1/4 inch shaft, I would like to change it to a 30 mm shaft anyone know if this is possible?

I don't know if it's possible, but can you not use top hat reducers instead? £11 pair on e-bay.

Cheers

Hi,

Isn't 1 1/4" bigger than 30mm, 1 1/4" X 25.4 =31.75mm

Pete

1 1/4 is bigger than 30mm so you cannot use reducers.

Most spindle tooling is available in both 30mm and 1 1/4

The other way of doing it, is to see if you local saw doctor can open up the 30mm bore of your blocks to 1 1/4, or they may be able to recommend an engineering firm who can.

If you are very lucky you may be able to pick up a second hand 30mm spindle, I know Wadkin made them for their machines and it is possible Wilson did too.

I was thinking of 1 1/4" blocks on a 30mm spindle (something i've got). Apologies for confusion/idiocy.

Cheers

Your best bet could be to have a new top piece made. It's unlikely you will find anyone who stocks parts for wilsons (however if anyone knows otherwise please let me know)
If it's any help the shaft dia should be 30mm +0 -0.02mm.
