Why is this Shoulder plane worth so much?

Ebay Record Shoulder Plane

Is at £95 with 3 hours to go. What is it that makes it worth so much more than others I've seen for sale?

Well they are good. I keep bidding but haven't got one yet. Fashion has something to do with it too.
The good news is that fashion also makes the Stanley 78 really cheap and good value; almost as good as a shoulder plane and a usable substitute if you haven't anything better. Also a lot more versatile.

I too keep bidding but I am not paying Clifton prices, that is just madness.

I have just finished a small coffee table in oak and found load of things I could have used a shoulder plane for, had I had one! My bull nose plane just doesn't do that same thing.
