Which Scraper Plane?

I am thinking of buying a scraper plane. I've never used one before, so this is a new 'learning' opportunity for me.....or a chance to buy a new toy!

I have looked at the lovely shiny Veritas and Lie Neilson offerings for the large scraper plane. Has anyone used these or could recommend an alternative?
