Where can I some beech

Just a quick question - can anyone recommend where I can beech mail order in the UK?

British Hardwoods would deliver. I think you would be within the cheaper 50 mile limit.

arent arnold laver timberworld based in manchester? these will certainly have beech and may save you the cost of shipping. i love beech and use it for all my workshop things along with birch ply.

I think Arnold Laver are a Sheffield company, but they definately have a store in Manchester. However if it is anything like the Bradford store, I wouldn't go there.

Hi,

I have to say I have only used Arnold Laver a couple of times and each time they have been very poor - so won't use them again, especially the one on Canal Road in Bradford.

I'll give British Hardwoods a call tomorrow.

I bought a load of beech for my library project from British Hardwoods - about 500 linear m. I bought it planed beacuse I didn't have the time to machine it myself. Worked out cheaper than machined tulip from another couple of suppliers.

Really good stock - nicely finished with almost no blemish. I don't think there was one duff piece. Highly recommended.

I bought a load of steamed and non steamed beech from this chap. All Kiln dried. Excellent quality and much cheaper than buying from one of the hardwood guys. Definitely worth giving him a call to see what is coming out of his kiln. PM me if you have any questions.
