what product on dining table

The dining table is pine, in its sanded finished state its very soft like butter. In its sanded ready to coat state it is almost white/blonde and would like to keep this look. Can someone suggest what product to apply please that hardens the surface ........does not yellow or deepen its colour.....is a matt finish........is food safe........ :?: :? .........thankyou mike

I doubt you'll find anything that doesn't deepen the colour of pine. I was going to suggest Danish Oil, but that definitely will yellow it as will any oil. Hardwax Oil is easy quick and easy, but I doubt hardens the surface much. A water based polyurethane is probably as good and easy as you will get.
