Just got David Springetts Woodturning Full Circle book and turning a variation on his ribbon streptohedron (top line second from left on the cover).

I'm using a brown hardwood (bought from Craft Supplies about 5 years ago) my best guess is Utile but it could be Paduak.
Given the shape ie ease of application of the finish and the wood any suggestions on finish?

Brian

I'd use a hardwax oil like Osmo Top Oil or CHestnut Hardwax Oil. Very easy to use - just apply a thin caot with a brush, then remove all excess by wiping off with a cloth. Wait 24 hours for the first coat to dry, and apply second coat in the same way. Once fully cured (another 24 hours in this warm weather) either leave as it is for a satin finish or buff up to a glossier look using a buffing wheel. These finishes will not mark with fingerprints and handling.
