I have recently completed a 5' oak garden seat - made from instructions in Anthony Hontoir's book Furniture Making - and after 44 mortice and tenon joints later I'm pleased with the result although I think the back could have done with a little more rake, it's 1.5'' which doesn't look quite enough.

What I can't decide on is whether to leave it 'au natural' or apply a couple of coats of oil.

I would greatly appreciate members advice, and thanks in advance.

Regards,

John

Thanks for that Phil. I've had a look at Osmo on the internet and it looks like good stuff. They do a preservative product and a finishing oil as a final coat. As it's Oak I don't think I need a preservative but the oil will be good to prevent the greying effect from the sun.
