Sure it would - these thien separators or cyclones are designed so that less suction is required to do the same job as a larger motored traditionally bagged extraction machine because the motor isn't having to work harder create suction through the dirt that's already in the bag - or clogging the filter. Adding a cyclone to any form of suction effectively makes the vaccum work the same way as a dyson, and everyone knows how effective they are.
It won't suddenly make your vac perform like a large dust extractor machine, the amount of suck you'll get will be the same - but it won't diminish either, you'll get 99% all the time as long as the infeed and outfeed tubes of the cyclone are kept clear.
Your machine will also last longer, and these "cyclones on a bucket" are far simpler to empty too - it's a winner all round.
