Waterproofing Painted MDF?

ok I am building a cabinet to house a mini fridge. It is sprayed white using eggshell paint.

It Dawned on me today that the fridge will have the odd leak from time to time. Maybe about twice a year.

Is there a clear finish I can paint on the inside of the cabinet to protect it from the odd leak?

Try water based varnish-easy to spray and clean up! Plenty tough too!

Water based varnish or melamine lacquer (check the mel does not attack the paint)will do, although the eggshell will be OK on its own. Yacht varnish will give your paint a yellow tinge.
