You know, having been a member of UKWS for around 6 years or so I don't think I have ever visited the projects section, god knows why not.

Anyway, thought I would add a few pics of my last but one small wshop project. A plane till made from some of the recycled timber when we pulled down our old hardwood conservatory. Some type of meranti I suspect but it has served well.

The plan was taken from an American WW magazine. Simple enough project. Hope you like it.

David.

Impressive. Looks well executed and finished. My only caveat would be to wonder how fiddly removing/replacing the planes might be with the cord retainer?

Thanks for the kind words Mike, much appreciated.

Possibly not ideal to have the hanging loops. However spaces dictates and this was the version which best suited my needs and available space. Not too much of an issue however as the loops tend to hang open after a plane has been removed, resulting in simple replacement.

Cheeky comment I know, but where does the plane on the chest to the right in the second piccy go?!?!?

Thank you David, this has answered a question I was going to ask about plane storage.
Nicely done =D>

SVB - Not a cheeky question at all, the plane in question I believe is a scrub plane. It now resides in another small wall cab I built to house such and other joinery planes (Once I upload the pics I will show that too.)

n0legs - Thanks mate for the kind comment. I am pleased it has given you some ideas. I found that tilting the back board at 10* is just enough too prevent the planes from hanging rather than resting on the back board. Of course if you have a deeper till then it's not an issue with the degree of tilt. Howeveras mine is only 5 1/4" deep every degree off the vertical was crucial for the planes to rest properly.

Hope your goes well.

David
