I want to shingle over a flower bed(over plastic) which measures
10mtrs x 80cm wide x 75mm deep. roughly under a quarter of a cubic mtr. However my builders mearchant sells shingle by weight so how much does a cubic metre of peas sized shingle weigh?

The density is around 1.8 tonnes /m3.

Volume is 10 x 0.8 x 0.075 = 0.6 m3

Weight = 0.6 x 1.8 = 1.08 tonnes. Handy - = a "Big bag".
cheers,

Ike

I think Ike has it covered, but I just thought I would mention this site which I've found to be a valuable resource when it comes to this kind of thing. Specifically this page will help. With pea sized there will be less void space so I would think the estimate of 1.64 T/m3 is probably a bit conservative and would go with Ike's estimate.

Thanks Dave, some interesting articles at that site as well.

Should finish the job this weekend and hopefully get back to the shed after a 7 month absence.
