Using MFT3 for the first time

Should the splinter guard cut for the supplied rail be done on the table ( ) or separately ?

I did my 8oomm track on the table.
However I can't see that it would make much difference either way.

Done it off table as I didn't want to cut table. Looked so nice. Slash it next time, eh ?

I did mine off the edge of a sheet of plywood, so only the splinter guard was cut for my saw+blade combination.
