I bought some "joinery quality sawn redwood" for frame & panel bookcase; unfortunately, the yard foreman I usually deal with was off, so I got the first dozen boards off the pack... I've done my best to tidy them up, but even after hours of taking see-through shavings with a smoothing plane, there's still some areas marred by tear-out; none of the gaps to be filled is more than 1/16th deep or 1/8th wide/long, but i'm concerned that it could still be quite noticable.

Whats my best bet for filling this so that it's not overly noticable after a dark stain and multiple layers of beeswax?

cut out the bad section and put in a fillet with matching grain, drill out offending section and put a plate in.

simplest answer if you have a router, route a channel out that removes the bad patches then square the corners and fit a segment.
