Hi to all.
Back again, with an easier project than the last one I asked about a while ago, following my stroke.
I gave the item back to the charity shop as I couldn't do it.
This one the wife saw in a shop in Driffield. Fell in love with it and asked if I could strip it back to bare wood.
I can just about cope with this with my good arm.
It's solid wood with no veneer anywhere.
Bloke said it was a bespoke piece for the person he got it from.
First question - Is it walnut?
Looked at plenty of photos and it looks to be. The white area at the top of the drawer I started stripping seems to be peculiar to walnut?
Next question - As I did with the sideboard last year, I'll strip it and coat it with Fiddes as before. Is that OK?
Last question - The handles let it down. They are metal and thin tin.
As you can see, getting that one off has ruined it, as some of the nails pulled through.
Can anyone recommend a site where I can get similar styles in other materials?
I've looked but I'm trawling through thousands of handles with no luck.
Thank you.
Tom.
