I was ask by a friend of the people who had the two Apricot if I could make them something like them but not exactly the same so I set about making these two little laburnum bowls one was supposed to be a burr but I cant find it they are not from the same log I did manage to keep the bark on these and applied some thin CA to prevent it coming of in the future with a bit of luck all comments welcome Enjoy

I'd never seem Laburnum until recently, but the more I see, the more I love it.
Nice work as always Woody.

The grain pattern in photo 002 is superb, and I also like the inside of the same bowl in photo 001.

Is there any special technique to getting a square (or other) shaped rim around the edges of the bowls?

If you want to turn a square bowl you have to run the lathe as fast as you dare watch the shadow because that is what you will be turning and keep your knuckles out of the way or the swear box at the ready also on a serious note start of with small bowls till you get used to turning them

Beautifull workmanship woody they were the blanks i had my eyes transfixed on when i was in your workshop Saturday the finish equals the turning fantastic =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
regards
Bill

I love seeing your work, always something subtle about it be it the shape the finish but I think mostly the choice of wood . You seem to have the gift to select it's best features .
