Hi I have a trend worktop jig and I’m having some issues getting the j cut to line up, it’s either one of two problems, No. the front of the work top doesn’t meet up. No 2 there is a gap between the join on the j cut. Most videos I’ve watched there has been a slight bit of play between the guide bush and the jig is this ok?

I don't have the trend jig but do have another decent jig which is essentially the same. It is normal to have some play in the guide bush and jig. The way I was shown to use it was to take a few passes but pulling the router to the back of the jig slot. On the final pass push the router to the front of the slot which takes a final full depth cut across the whole face of the cut. I am wondering if this is the issue?

As Porker says, make sure you do a final pass hard against the edge, also make sure that your clamps are square to the surface and not pulling the jig slightly off line when tightened
