Timber pricing

Some time ago I downloaded a timber calculator from this site, when I put in the dimensions of this timber http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/21mm-Kiln-Dri ... 1c2f464bb5
it comes out at £8.90, as you can see they are charging £30, what am I doing wrong?

They are selling by the cubic foot not by the board, one board is less than 1 Cubic foot so will be less than £30 the sizes they give are average sizes. you would pay for the total volume that you get.

To get the approx price of one board you need to find the volume of one board in inches then divide that by 1728

the figure that you get times by 30 and you have the price per board

the boards are shown as 2400mm x 200mm x 21mm in inches this is approx 96 x 8 x 7/8 so

96 x 8 x .875 (metric 7/8) = 672 cubic inches

672/1728 = 0.388889 cubic foot

0.388889 x 30 = 11.66667

therefore one board is £11.67

I'm happy to create for you an excel spreadsheet in which you enter the length, width and depth in inches or metric (if you prefer) and the cost per cubic foot and it will give you the price per board
