There are a few Landy owners on here - beware!
My Defender burst her heater matrix yesterday. I parked her off the road, out of sight down our back lane (which is a private dead-end), and ordered up a Britpart replacement from the local chap, and daughter kindly collected it today.
When I came out this morning to get the heater box out, some swine had stolen the elbow at the bottom of the snorkel, leaving just a gaping port in the side of the van and no connection to the air filter at the top. It looks like they drilled out the rivets, and got just the piece they wanted.
My guess is that it was stolen to order, and someone's been looking out for landrovers parked on the road. As it's an older vehicle (originally a TD, with a 200TDi conversion), the snorkel comes out of the opposite side (LHS) to the later 200TDi, 300TDi and TD5 units, and thus their kits won't fit. Bloomin' hen's teeth! I'll have to jury rig an air filter under the bonnet, and then find a way of making one probably.
They even had the audacity to leave the snorkel common parts behind - they only took the rare bit.
Life's far too short for this sort of thing.
Infuriated,
E.
PS: and I can't get the flaming heater box out either - moves but won't come free. Mutter, mutter, mutter...
