I hope not!
I'm not entirely sure but I think it would have been used by an orthopaedic surgeon fitting artificial hips etc where there's quite a bit of work chiselling the bone to fit the implant. From looking at the tools I think some of the surgery needed strong muscles and good carving skills!

Here is my organic holly hammer, and another one that's still air-drying.
It's hard to find that perfect right-angle, though.
