The green and wetter end of the M4.
Whilst creating this months challenge masterpiece I found myself requiring a little support at the tailstock. No problem - take one of the scraps and turn a small anti-cone. But i needed the chuck to do this and didnt want to have to remount said masterpiece.
So.... I am about to make some various shaped supports ready for use as and when, does anyone have any regularly used 'go to' pieces and if so, what shape or form do they take? cones? cups? etc?
piccys please.

Make up some blunt ended centres to slip over your revolving centre, I use felt padded furniture feet on the ends as a mark reducing feature.

My go-to version is permanently left on a spare centre and used regularly to add security when using the cole jaws as well as essential clamping for reverse turning natural edge bowls.

Likewise a couple of reverse cones similarly made to fit over the revolving centre are useful if you are into spindle or fruit type turnings.

sounds like you need a second lathe Nev.........

more seriously - I just take the workpiece and chuck off complete and make anything like this using another chuck :)
