Hi,

I have a Dewalt DW745 10” table saw, it is suitable for my needs but the only problem is trying to get some sensible depth of cut adjustment :-k .

My question is does anybody know of a retro fit gadget that can be fitted to the height adjustment that enables some degree of measurement for the depth of cut.

Thanks

Keith

something like this or the manual equivalent?

Thanks for that, shows how it helps to have other thoughts. I automatically thought of a dial to attach to the hand wheel #-o .

I did not think in that direction especially as I have a number of measuring instruments left over from my engineering days.

Will check to see if there is anything available on a UK site if not will adapt one of my instruments.

FOUND THEIR UK SITE :D

The complexity of making the measurement on a tablesaw is because the blade arbour moves on an arc rather than a straight line.

Thanks for that info, I will have a look in the bowels of the saw Tomorrow at the possibilities.

I am thinking of something like the product in the link that Marcros suggested. I have found a spare DTI with a 2" travel that I could mount on a block which would bridge the blade area allowing the DTI to touch the tip of the blade, locating the contact point at the crest of the blade should not be a problem (probably a good idea to stop the blade when I check[-o< [-o< [-o< )

I would prefer a fitting like the one in your link for obvious reasons, depending on the practicalities & work involved.

Its times like this I wish I still had my Factory, endless supply of Machines & raw materials, but then I would not have the time to play =D>

This is mine:

It's accurate enough for a TS and an RT.

Hi,

Disappeared in to the darkest depths of my TS and it lends itself perfect for a modification to provide a up/down calibration scale, or it would if I do not want to cut at an angle.

The blade is a nice straight up and down movement and it would be easy to fit a connection from this through a new slot cut in the side of the casing to a scale.

The problems comes when the blade is tilted, the whole assembly moves which would displace the new connection through the case dramatically, no doubt I could overcome this with a series of connections, but life is too short.

I think the direct measurement from the blade is the answer.
