I have a cheapy table saw (Ryobi ETS-1526AL) it's ok for most things as I'm a hobby woodworker, however when I use the rip fence the very end of the cut is not parrallel to the fence, I assume this is because the rip fence is flexing? I wondered if it is ok to add an extension to the fence so I can clamp it to the table, meaning both ends are secured, or is this dangerous.

it could be flex in the fence, could be the support that it is connected to. Does it move when you clamp it up- this suggests that it is not pulling evenly, which i would think is more likely. you could either compensate in the fence so that when clamped it is square, or better still see if you can prevent it from happening.

It is a faff to have to clamp both ends of the fence, and you have the issues/dangers of long fence/vs short fence but securing both ends itself is not dangerous.

Is the fence parallel to the blade?

How far past the teeth does your fence project? it should really only go just past the gullet of the teeth, so having a fence the length of the able is wrong.

If the fence is moving away from the teeth then just clamp a piece of wood to the table and have it butt up to the back of the fence.

Thanks guys, the fence is nearly the full length of the table, Andy I like the idea of clamping a piece of wood to the table top, I'll try that first. It's not really a big problem, more annoying.
