Just a heads up for er, heads up types round here. There is a supermoon just rising right now and it looks enormous. Plus a lunar eclipse in the early hours, for the insomniacs.

Surely it doesn't matter whose window he's looking out of, just as long as he's not looking in

Beware of those who moon at you

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/s ... -supermoon

At dusk I got a nice photo. Over exposed for the moon, but shows the cloud

Then just now I got the round thingy

And if !!!!! I can get me bum in gear at about 3 or 4 in the morning ???? I will try to get some of the colour?

After a bleedin bad night last night due to a rottttttten cold I may not make it? I hope I do!

Oh god!! I have just realised that the world is about to end!!

The big bloke in the suite had better see about getting his millions out of the banks his believers have put it al into before they go up in smoke

It was a nice night for viewing it - I took some photos - hand held cause I couldn't be bothered fighting with my tripod at that early hour.
Not very good but the red colour shows.
30yrs to the next one.

The 1st I got was this. Just taken with the camera on 'P', a sort of auto setting, but it's too bright

Then I went to the manual setting and played around with the shutter speed

A while back the Mairie decided to chop the street lighting at about 1.30 and it makes such a difference. So much so that the sky was bright enough for me to get a shot I didn't think possible! Orion. That was a full 10 second exposure and I was glad there was no wind at all!

One of the most difficult things was getting the focus spot on, but the colour was wonderful

Then the light started to appear on the left

And as it had taken a couple of hours and it was almost 5.30 I said sod it and went back to bed

Was it worth the sleep loss? You bet yer boots it was 8) 8)

Excellent pix Jonzjob, thanks for posting. It was cloudy here (when I went to bed) so that was my excuse for not getting up at "oh dark thirty".

Rodd, my camera is not that expensive. A DSLR yes, but at the low end. The know how has taken a bit of time and some patience, but it's not exceptional and anyone can do it, if I can then ANYONE can do it!!

I took over 50 photos last night and of those, in my opinion, the best are shown, but that's the wonder of digital photography. You can ditch what you don't like straight away.

Give it a try and experiment. There's loads of info on the web for whatever kit you have and loads of ways to get the best. You could well be very surprised at what you can get. What, apart from a bit of time, have you got to loose??

When I first started in photography I used to develop and print my own b/w photos and I used to buy my film by the yard. I have no idea how much I threw away, but I learned how to hold the camera above my head, at my waist and in all sorts of places without looking through the view finder and now I can usually get what I an trying to get candidly.

Now, instead of throwing away film you chuck bytes that cost nowt. Give it a try you may well be surprised even if you only have a little pocket point and squirt camera. I have one in the car!!

A Sony cyber shot w610 is about my limit, bought it new old stock, in the box £40. a few months ago,
Point and click on auto! I Just about remember to keep that finger out the way!
