I don't know about the twelve violins tested, but the three clips were pretty much obvious. Most have guessed right. Myself included.

Surely though, it's just as much to do with the archetier as it is the luthier?

True, all these things matter.
I don't know how the test was conducted, but in the name of fairness, I hope they didn't slap on a
set of Dominants on the Strad.
(The playing wasn't top notch either.)

A mate of mine once inherited a Stradivarius and a Monet from a old auntie, but he was really upset when he found out that although they were genuine they weren't worth very much. It turned out that Stradivarius was a lousy painter and Claude Monet could not make violins :!: :!:

So I"ve been told , Stradivarius died very poor, which struck me as odd for someone always "on the fiddle".
