Going to make cupboards for the above. A simple faceframe/surround, Two doors and a top and have two to make one the gas and one for the electric. Both will be set back from the storm porch reveals approx 150mm so essentially under cover but open the fresh air. Was going to use Ply for the Plinth bit, ie touching the floor and the remainder mrmdf and its all getting painted inside and out with undercoat and exterior top coat. My question or concern if you like, should i avoid the mrmdf and stick with ply?

Pros and cons I spose, mrmdf will be cheaper and possably easier to get a good finish on. Ply could be more water resistant.

Will there be any chance of water standing on the units or on the floor where the units are stood? If so I would be tempted to go for ply all round, but you would need a good quality ply with good faces - other wise you will be trying to get a good finish on it for the rest of time...

Cheers, I have a few off cuts of Birch ply that I'll use.
